HABITAT
Platypuses occur in freshwater systems from tropical rainforest lowlands and plateaus of far northern Queensland to cold, high altitudes of Tasmania and the Australian
Location: Platypus are only found in Australia.
|
Living Requirements:
- Usually need to live in water depths of at least 1-3 meters deep.
- Places with lots of logs and branches help platypus find food more easily, because aquatic invertebrates (what platypus feed on) are usually concentrates in "leafy" areas.
- Water pollution affects platypus in a severe way. Pollution limits the amount of prey and the nutrients, and the pollution causes platypus to move to other locations downstream.
